Nursing

If you want a fulfilling career in nursing, there's no better place to start than Cecil College. Cecil offers two separate but coordinated plans at our main campus in North East:

  • Associate of Science Degree in Nursing
  • Practical Nurse Certificate

What is distinctive?

The Maryland Board of Nursing has approved both programs and the associate degree program has the distinction of continuous accreditation by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. In addition to the classroom setting, you'll gain critical hands-on experience outside the classroom in the simulation laboratory, as well as healthcare settings in Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania.

Earn your Associate of Science in Nursing

By successfully completing this program, you'll be prepared to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination in Registered Nursing (NCLEX-RN)—the standardized exam required of all Registered Nurses, regardless of educational preparation, prior to nursing practice. You'll be prepared to work as an entry-level nurse through the nursing program's emphasis on the following components of nursing practice, as established by the National League for Nursing and endorsed by the National Organization of Associate Degree Nurses:

  • Assessment
  • Caring interventions
  • Clinical decision making
  • Collaboration
  • Communication
  • Managing care
  • Professional behavior
  • Teaching and learning
