Pharmacy Technician
As a pharmacy technician, you will help the pharmacist package or mix prescriptions, maintain client records, assist with inventory control and purchasing, as well as collect payment, contact insurance carriers, and coordinate billing. This course combines classroom instruction in the theory and practice of pharmacy technicians, computer skills, job-hunting and professional skills, mathematics, and a 160-hour pharmacy externship to provide you with a complete learning experience.
What is required?
You must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, a passing score on the Allied Health basic skills assessment, and interview with the director of health care careers. A criminal background check and drug testing are also required prior to clinical externship. All students are required to wear green scrubs (MUST be purchased at the Cecil College Bookstore and bearing the Cecil College Health Care Careers patch) and white shoes. You will need to complete the following courses, totaling 349 hours of instruction/clinical experience:
